BUILDING COMMUNITY THROUGH RELATIONSHIP
On March 24th we celebrated the grand opening of our new 30 unit permanent supportive
housing apartment. “ Canora Place,” a year in the works, finally came to completion.
Honoured guests included Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Jonathan Denis who
cut the ribbon, Honourable Heather Klimchuk Minister of Service and Honourable Thomas
Lakuszuk Minister of Employment and Immigration. Also in attendance was Susan McGee
from Homeward Trust who was responsible for 30% of our funding which was 1.8 million
dollars. The Province of Alberta provided the other 4.2 million which was 70% of
the total to 6 million dollars.
Donald Mayne and John Wright represented "No Room
in the INN" and Donald presented me with a plaque from the committee. This campaign
raised over $55,000 dollars from the various faith communities in Edmonton including
Evangelical, Presbyterian, United, Catholic, Anglican and Lutheran.
We were overwhelmed
with 200 people coming out to support the Grand Opening and wish to give thanks to
everyone for their support of the organization and contributions throughout our 5
years.

Jasper Place Health and Wellness Centre will be running the Homeward Trust funded Winter Warming program again this year.
This program is part of Edmonton’s Winter Emergency Response Strategy. Our main objective is to keep people out of the cold, and
make sure they don’t have to sleep outside.
We do need volunteers to run this program, so if you or someone you know is interested please Read More.

Yesterday at JPHAWC we were presented with a cheque 28k from Beulah Alliance Church.
We are speechless. People often forget that without support like this from Beulah Alliance Church
and other private donators JPHAWC would not be possible; JPHAWC is run completely off of donations.
We appreciate support like this more than we could ever express.
Illuminight
Sunday, December 18, 2011
Illuminight is a fundraiser put on by Rio Terrace Moravian Church. The community is encouraged to purchase the lantern packages and set them out as an expression of hope and community. Besides the beautiful lights throughout the neighbourhood there is sleigh rides, carols and hot out of the oven cookies. It’s a great reminder that together we are more powerful and that community is important. We are thankful for the support!
The Edmonton Journal has great pictures from the event -
Christmas Party 2011
Wednesday , December 21, 2011
Every year we work hard at having a great Christmas party for the community and this year was no different. JPHAWC was packed full of people from all over Edmonton. We want to say a big Thank You to everyone who donated the food, especially Lee Nohos who worked tirelessly making sure everyone had a full belly. Secondly to Bag of Hope for ensuring that everyone received a bag full of hope and many winter necessities.

Every Saturday night four churches come together, bring a meal large enough for the whole centre and play a movie. They created a small slide show, so you can see what happens on Saturday nights! Click Here to see the slide show.
